SONGWRITING & GUITAR
June 17-21, 2013
Join us for an unforgettable musical experience in our budding musicians camp! Our major areas of focus are guitar instruction for beginning to advanced guitar players and songwriters. Anyone can write a song!
Within these processes, we will introduce rhythm, harmony, chord work, as well as singing and playing together as an ensemble.
Explore musical aspects in a fun and experiential setting that also incorporates movement and teamwork. Our goal is for each student to leave with a deeper understanding and appreciation of music and a passion for creating music. We believe everyone is creative. Students will learn in a setting where creativity is seen as a natural ability.
Not only will our students learn about music, they will leave knowing they can create music! At the end of the camp, each student will receive a CD with the group's original song(s) and photos our experience together. Performance on the last day, June 21, on the stage of the East High auditorium!
During the school year, Small Group Guitar Lessons
During the school year, we offer guitar lessons at several schools across Denver.
Students will be taught basic chords, how to read chord diagrams and tablature, and play songs. And our Level 2 class will build upon the skills learned in the beginner's class.
Classes are taught in a playful and encouraging setting where everyone's learning style is honored. To make sure each child receives the attention he or she needs, our class size is limited to ten students.
GUITAR MASH UP & FLASH MOB
July 15-19, 2013
Let´s take our guitars and gift of song to the streets of Denver this summer and bring joy and inspiration to the heart of the city. Join us for a fun filled week of musical mash ups where we will put together choruses of various genres, write our own songs and rehearse them all week.
Parents will then come early on Friday to all walk together from East High to perform flash mob style.
Other activities will include making guitar pick jewelry and shirts for the show. This camp instills musicianship, exposure to various genres of music, and building our guitar technique and co-writing skills. The importance of learning to play and connect with other guitar players creates an invaluable experience and is an attribute that cannot be attained in private lessons. This opportunity allows campers to bond with other youth musicians in their community and provides a safe and fun. All levels are welcome.
